Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 devs are working on a Nintendo Switch 2 version, but note the "big technical challenge" of getting it up and running - Eurogamer.net

What the report says
Eurogamer reports that Sandfall Interactive is exploring a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, but the studio is warning that the work is technically difficult and not yet ready for a formal announcement. The comments came in a new interview with Automaton, cited by Eurogamer, after fans expressed interest in seeing the breakout role-playing game come to Nintendo’s newer hardware.
Tom Guillermin, Sandfall’s chief technical officer and lead programmer, said the challenge stems from the game’s visual ambitions and the gap between Switch 2 hardware and more powerful platforms such as PlayStation and Xbox Series X. The game was built with Unreal Engine 5, and lead character artist Alan Reynaud said some engine features do not currently function on Switch 2. He pointed to Epic’s work on options such as Lumen Lite as the kind of development the team will need to monitor before deciding how best to proceed.
Sandfall CEO and creative director Guillaume Broche said the studio wants to find a path to make the port happen, but that it is too early to announce timing or details. Eurogamer notes the scale issue is significant because Clair Obscur was made by a relatively small team of around 30 people, with outsourced support.
The potential port matters because Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become one of the year’s notable RPG successes, with Eurogamer reporting it sold 1 million copies in three days. For now, Switch 2 players have a sign of developer interest, but no confirmed release window.
