Chris Cadden exits Hibs for 'more game time' with Aberdeen

Hibernian have sold right-back Chris Cadden to Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee, with the move presented by both clubs as a chance for the 29-year-old to find a fresh challenge and more regular playing time. BBC Sport Football reported that Cadden has signed a two-year deal at Pittodrie.

The transfer came shortly after his final Hibs appearance, when he came off the bench in Thursday’s 4-1 win over Malisheva in Conference League qualifying at Easter Road. Cadden made 166 appearances for Hibs in total after joining from Columbus Crew five years ago, including 27 outings last season. He also previously played for Motherwell, where Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson worked with him, as well as Columbus in Major League Soccer and Oxford United.

Robinson said Cadden would add experience, professionalism and defensive reliability to the squad, while noting the player was eager to join. Cadden said Robinson’s ambition and vision made the move attractive. Hibs head coach David Gray described him as a strong servant to the club and said the team could not offer him as much game time as he wanted. The transfer adds to Aberdeen’s summer recruitment as they look to strengthen for the new season.
