China and Qatar have moved to deepen their relationship after a two-day visit to Beijing by Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, according to Al Jazeera. Officials from both sides described the ties as entering a new “golden decade” and said cooperation would expand across energy, investment and advanced technologies. The talks took place against the backdrop of the war on Iran and wider regional instability, which both governments view as a major shared concern.

Al Jazeera reported that Beijing pledged to increase communication and coordination with Doha to support regional peace and stability, while Qatar said it was continuing its mediation efforts involving Tehran and Washington. Qatari officials also emphasized that the current situation in the region is unsustainable and said diplomatic ideas were being explored with partners including China. At the same time, the article noted that Doha and Beijing approach Iran differently: China has avoided direct criticism of Tehran, while Qatar has publicly condemned attacks affecting its own territory and nearby Gulf states.

The economic relationship remains a central part of the partnership. China is Qatar’s largest trading partner, and Qatar is a major supplier of liquefied natural gas to China. Al Jazeera said the two countries also discussed broader cooperation in infrastructure, artificial intelligence, finance and manufacturing.
