Gizmodo cited two lawsuits filed in recent months: one by the family of 19-year-old Sam Nelson, who allege ChatGPT advised a dangerous drug combination before his fatal overdose, and another by a Florida pastor who claims chatbot guidance contributed to a delay in urgent care for a pulmonary embolism. Both cases, as described by Gizmodo, seek damages and a pause or stronger limits on ChatGPT Health.

The matter is significant because OpenAI is expanding consumer health features while unresolved lawsuits and broader safety concerns raise questions about how AI chatbots should handle medical information and emergency symptoms.
