Chase sparks Bangladesh collapse as West Indies on top in Mirpur Test

What the report says
West Indies captain Roston Chase put his team in a strong position against Bangladesh on day three of the first Test in Mirpur, Bangladesh, after taking 3-25 and helping reduce the hosts to 79-6 by stumps. The collapse left Bangladesh leading by 106 runs, with play ending early because of bad light. Al Jazeera reported that Chase’s off-spin, along with support from left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and pacer Shamar Joseph, drove much of the damage.
Bangladesh had taken a 27-run first-innings lead after West Indies were dismissed for 245. West Indies resumed the day at 134-4 and were boosted by a patient 56 from Tagenarine Chanderpaul, while Chase added 43. Nayeem Hasan was Bangladesh’s best bowler in the West Indies innings, taking 4-33.
In reply, Bangladesh lost regular wickets as Chase removed Shadman Islam, Towhid Hridoy and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto. Warrican dismissed Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, leaving the hosts in trouble before Jaker Ali and Nayeem Hasan steadied the innings somewhat. Al Jazeera noted that Jaker was playing as a concussion substitute for Mominul Haque. The match remained finely poised heading into the fourth day, with Bangladesh hoping to build a target and West Indies eyeing a chase.
