Bleacher Report said Charlie Woods opened the 2026 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship with a five-over 76 on Monday at Saucon Valley Country Club’s Old Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, leaving him well outside the early qualifying range after the first round of stroke play.

According to the report, Woods started poorly, playing his first five holes at six over. His round included a bogey on the par-five first, a triple bogey on the par-four second and additional bogeys on the fourth and fifth. He steadied his scorecard afterward, making a birdie at the par-five sixth and playing the final 13 holes at one under, with 10 pars, one bogey and a closing birdie on the par-four 18th.

Bleacher Report noted that the championship begins with two rounds of stroke play for a 264-player field, with competitors scheduled to play one round each on Saucon Valley’s Old Course and Grace Course. After those rounds, the top 64 advance to match play; ties at the cut line are resolved through a sudden-death playoff. As of 2 p.m. ET Monday, the reported cut line stood at one over, while Woods’ five-over total placed him outside the top 150.

The result makes Tuesday’s second round important for Woods if he is to reach match play. Bleacher Report also identified Woods as the son of Tiger Woods and reported that he has verbally committed to play college golf at Florida State beginning in fall 2027.
