Chappa League XI: Crunch Quarter-Finals Set Ahead of ‘Obunuzi’ Finale

What the report says
The Chappa League XI has moved into the knockout stage after a draw set the quarter-final pairings following a regular season that featured the top eight teams. According to Nile Post, the draw was conducted on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at Inspire Café near Twed Towers in Kampala, and was overseen by Chappa League head of technical affairs Douglas Ainamani.
The published matchups are Rwizi versus Dingiswayo, CF Burdizo against Rugabo City, See Far against Bull Old Timers, and Yobo Yobo against CHOGM. The winners will advance to the semi-finals, with the competition heading toward its season-ending finale. Nile Post also said the broader event is tied to alumni football communities from Mbarara High School and MaryHill High School.
The league’s final is scheduled for 19 September 2026 at the Mbarara High School playgrounds, where the closing event will be branded “Obunuzi.” Chappa League president Kennedy Gumisiriza urged alumni and supporters to attend in large numbers, saying the day would include more than football. He also thanked sponsors, led by Guinness, for backing the competition throughout the season.
Nile Post said the league has also used the season to support community activities, including medical camps, wellness runs, tree planting and plans for donations to Ruharo Hospital. More generally, school alumni leagues in Uganda often combine sport, networking and community service, which helps explain the wider interest around the event.
