BBC Sport reported that Liverpool chief executive Billy Hogan spoke in New York during the club’s U.S. pre-season tour, where the Premier League side is seeking to deepen its American fanbase. The club says it has more than 26 million supporters in the United States, and its tour includes fixtures against Sunderland, Wrexham and Leeds. Hogan described the past year as difficult for Liverpool but said the club is trying to build momentum on and off the pitch.

A central issue in the interview was Fenway Sports Group’s confirmation that a consortium led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia has shown interest in taking a strategic minority stake in Liverpool. Hogan said FSG has long been open to investment if it benefits the club, but he did not go beyond the club’s existing position on the talks. He emphasized that FSG, which bought Liverpool in 2010 for £300m, remains committed. BBC Sport cited the Financial Times as reporting that a potential deal would value Liverpool at more than £4.5bn.

Hogan also addressed wider change at the club, including a new head coach, player departures, and executive movement. He said transition is part of football and argued Liverpool remains in a healthy position, with ownership stability and a model based on sustainable reinvestment. He pointed to strong commercial performance, including £702m in revenue and fifth place in the Deloitte Football Money League.

Hogan acknowledged the women’s team had previously needed more attention and said the club is now investing in facilities and squad development while applying the same sustainability principles used across the wider football operation.
