Celtic are working on as many as four signings before they submit their Europa League squad on Wednesday, assistant manager Shaun Maloney said on Tuesday. The Scottish champions have already added four first-team players this window, but Maloney said there are still key positions to address before the transfer deadline later in the week.

He said the club want to strengthen in midfield and at left-back, with the latter seen as important cover and competition for Scotland defender Kieran Tierney. Maloney also suggested a possible departure for Japan midfielder Reo Hatate could be part of the planning, while noting that Celtic may need to replace some of the qualities brought in by Arne Engels. BBC Sport also said Celtic have been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, Parma midfielder Oliver Sorensen, PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg and Chelsea forward Shim Mheuka, though Maloney did not confirm any of those moves.

The assistant manager said any deal in the striker area would likely be resolved within the next day or two, or the club would continue with the current squad.
