What the report says

NBCSports.com, citing the Associated Press, reported that Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Isaiah Adams was arrested in Canada and is facing four weapons-related charges. The 25-year-old was charged in Ontario with possession of a firearm obtained through a crime, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, having a loaded firearm without a license, and possessing a prohibited device, according to Durham Regional Police Service information cited in the report.

The report said three other people were arrested with Adams. Police said the case followed an investigation that ended Friday into a man suspected of having a firearm and being involved in drug trafficking. NBCSports.com reported that two of the other people arrested were charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. The article did not state that Adams was charged with a drug offense.

Adams’ attorney, Adam Weisberg, denied wrongdoing on his client’s behalf, saying in a statement that Adams is “completely innocent,” had no knowledge of a firearm and would be exonerated. The Cardinals also issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation and saying the team would not comment further out of respect for the process.

Adams, who was born in Ajax, Ontario, was drafted by Arizona in the third round out of Illinois in 2024. NBCSports.com reported he was expected to report to Cardinals training camp on Thursday. He started 11 games last season after making five starts as a rookie, making the case relevant to Arizona’s offensive line plans as camp begins.
