Cameroon: Give Tinubu, Otu Another Term for Bakassi Seaport, Coastal Highway - Shettima

What the report says
Vice President Kashim Shettima told supporters in Calabar, the Cross River state capital, that President Bola Tinubu’s administration will deliver the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. He spoke at an All Progressives Congress rally at U.J. Esuene Stadium, where he represented Tinubu and urged voters to return Tinubu, Governor Bassey Otu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
According to the report carried by Vanguard and distributed by AllAfrica, Shettima framed the relationship between the federal government and Cross River residents as one built on cooperation and said the administration had benefited from their support over the past three years. He argued that the party deserved another mandate based on its record in office.
Shettima said the coastal highway would connect communities along Nigeria’s southern corridor, improve movement of people and goods, support tourism and investment, and create jobs. He also said the Bakassi Deep Seaport has already received federal approval and could become an international maritime gateway when completed. Beyond infrastructure, he pointed to the government’s student financing policy as part of broader efforts to expand access to higher education. The projects are politically significant because they are being presented as major development promises for Cross River and the wider coastal region.
