What the report says

Busoga East police have begun regionwide security inspections aimed at tightening crime prevention and improving readiness ahead of the festive season, according to Nile Post. The campaign comes after a recent rise in aggravated robberies in the area, which authorities say has prompted a closer look at how officers are prepared to respond.

The inspection team is being led by Deputy Regional Police Commander SSP Ahmed Hasunira. Police spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha said the exercise is examining officers’ alertness, case management, sanitation, logistics and broader policing standards across districts in Busoga East. The goal, he said, is to identify operational gaps, speed up the handling of case files, and make it harder for criminals to exploit weaknesses.

Kasadha also said police are increasing community sensitisation, especially among boda-boda operators and business owners, as part of efforts to improve public awareness and cooperation with security agencies. Unit commanders have reportedly already held sensitisation meetings in different parts of the region.

The inspections are also meant to reinforce accountability and service delivery within the force. Police urged residents to report suspicious activity to their district police commanders, and to escalate complaints to the regional commander if they are not satisfied with how local offices handle them. As a general matter, festive seasons often bring higher commercial activity and can coincide with increased theft and robbery risks, making prevention efforts more important.
