The report says the government has advanced work on Kabalega International Airport to support the Kabale oil refinery and equipment movement, alongside road upgrades connecting key oil and growth corridors. It also notes activity around TotalEnergies’ Tilenga project in Hoima and CNOOC’s Kingfisher project in Kikuube. Local officials quoted by Nile Post said the developments have created jobs, boosted compensation for some project-affected people and stimulated the hospitality sector as businesses prepare for higher demand.

AFCON-related works are also contributing to activity, including the planned Hoima City Stadium and other training and health facility upgrades. Leaders said these projects have supported construction jobs and increased spending in the area. Some officials described the region’s economy as visibly busier, with stronger commerce and nightlife.

At the same time, the article highlights concern among some residents and lawmakers that the benefits are not yet reaching ordinary people evenly. Critics say large companies are capturing most of the opportunities, while many locals remain in lower-paying work.
