Buganda Youth Day Committee Launched Ahead of November Celebrations

What the report says
Preparations for Buganda Youth Day 2026 have begun with the launch of a committee to organise celebrations set for November 7, according to Nile Post. The event is being coordinated under the Buganda Kingdom’s youth structures, with the committee chaired by lawyer Derrick Kavuma, who also leads the Buganda Youth Council.
The launch was overseen by Robert Sserwanga Ssaalongo, the Minister for Youth, Sports and Talent, who urged young people in Buganda and elsewhere to take part in the planned activities. He framed the annual gathering as a chance for youth to reflect on personal development and to strengthen their financial footing through regular saving.
Nile Post reported that speakers at the launch linked this year’s theme to investment and financial discipline. Joseph Balikuddembe Ssenkusu, chairperson of the board of Essuubiryo Zambogo SACCO, welcomed the focus on encouraging young people to invest and called on them to attend in large numbers. He also encouraged committee members to mobilise participation and promote share ownership in the SACCO as one practical way to support savings and investment.
The wider message from the launch was that the celebrations are intended to be both a cultural event and a youth development platform. In that context, organisers are using the lead-up to November 7 to promote livelihood improvement, financial habits and broader engagement by young people across Buganda.
