Buganda Youth Council Revamps Mumyuka Maanyi Headquarters Through Beautification Initiative

Nile Post reported that the Buganda Youth Council has completed restoration work at the Mumyuka Maanyi Sub-county headquarters in Busujju County under its “Youth Beautify Sub-county” programme. The renovated offices were formally received by Robert Sserwanga Ssaalongo, the Buganda Kingdom’s Minister for Youth, Sports and Talent, during a function that also included the commissioning and swearing-in of youth leaders from parishes within the sub-county.

According to the report, the Buganda Youth Council is a non-partisan youth leadership body that mobilises young people to take part in community development and Kingdom activities. Sserwanga praised the youth for contributing to the improvement of public facilities and urged them to remain involved in Buganda Kingdom programmes, saying their participation is important to the Kingdom’s future. He also inspected the county playground at the sub-county headquarters during the visit.

Reckon Kaggwa Muyanja, the Buganda Youth Treasurer and founder of Rejoice Paints, also addressed the event. Nile Post reported that he encouraged young people to recognise their skills early and use them productively, while also calling for support for locally made products and businesses as a way to strengthen livelihoods and contribute to development.

The publisher reported that the beautification initiative has now been carried out in two sub-counties: Ssaabawaali Gombe in Kyaddondo County and Mumyuka Maanyi in Busujju County. Organisers said the programme is expected to expand to other parts of the Kingdom, with the broader aim of promoting youth participation in community transformation and helping preserve public facilities.
