Buganda Kingdom releases final Masaza Cup fixtures

What the report says
The Buganda Kingdom has published the schedule for the final stage of the 2026 Masaza Cup, setting the tournament’s conclusion for October 31 at Wankulukuku Stadium. According to Nile Post, the day will feature two remaining matches after 102 games have already been played in the competition. Butambala will meet Bugerere at noon, followed by the final between Gomba and Kyaggwe at 4 p.m.
The fixtures were announced by the Kingdom’s Minister for Youth, Sports and Recreation, Robert Sserwanga Ssalongo, who used the occasion to appeal for discipline from both players and supporters. His message focused on avoiding violence and ensuring that the final day is handled peacefully as fans travel to and from the venue. The kingdom’s emphasis on order reflects the large public interest that often surrounds the Masaza Cup, one of Buganda’s most followed football competitions.
Sserwanga also linked the football event to National Cleaning Day, encouraging supporters to take part in cleaning activities before going to the stadium. That instruction adds a civic note to the sporting finale, suggesting the kingdom wants the event to promote both community participation and responsible behavior. More broadly, the Masaza Cup serves as an important cultural and sporting platform in Buganda, bringing together county teams and drawing strong local support.
