Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte dies aged 34

What the report says
BBC World News reported that U.S. actor RJ Mitte has died at age 34 in Brownsville, Texas. Mitte was widely known for playing Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character in the AMC drama Breaking Bad, and his representative said the death was a “tragic passing” of a beloved actor, philanthropist and disability rights advocate. No immediate cause of death was given.
Mitte lived with cerebral palsy and had said he drew on his own experience in the role, which helped make the character one of the show’s most recognizable figures. BBC World News noted that he received a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2014 for his work on the series. The report also said he used his public profile to promote disability awareness and inclusion.
Beyond acting, Mitte served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and he founded The Mitte Foundation to support charitable and community efforts. BBC World News said his work aimed to challenge stereotypes and improve representation for people with disabilities.
Breaking Bad aired from 2008 to 2013 and became one of the most acclaimed U.S. television dramas of its era. Mitte’s later credits included Hannah Montana, Switched at Birth, Westhampton and Talking to Strangers. The BBC’s report places his death in the context of a career that combined mainstream TV recognition with advocacy work.
