Boox is taking on Xteink with its own tiny e-reader - The Verge

What the report says
The Verge reports that Boox is developing a new pocket-size e-reader called the Boox Picco, positioning it as a competitor to Xteink’s small e-paper devices. According to the report, the Picco is expected to use a 3.97-inch black-and-white e-paper screen with front lighting and include expandable storage through an SD card slot.
Boox confirmed to The Verge that the Picco is in development and said it will be part of a new product family called the Tile lineup. The company also described the device as having an “accessible price point,” but The Verge said Boox did not provide a final price, release timing, or fuller specifications.
The device appears aimed at the emerging niche of very small e-readers, including Xteink models that can attach magnetically to the back of an iPhone using MagSafe. The Verge noted that Xteink’s $99 X4 Pro has a front-lit display, which could make it a close comparison for the Picco, but it remains unclear whether Boox’s device will include a similar magnetic mounting feature.
Several product details are still uncertain. A promotional image suggests the Picco may have physical buttons, but The Verge said it is not yet known whether it will also have a touchscreen. Citing Good E-Reader, the report said the Picco may use a simple tiled interface with basic apps such as Neoreader, music, and podcast tools, making it more limited than Boox’s Android-based Palma.
