Boda Rider Found Murdered, Motorcycle Stolen in Kyankwanzi

Police in Kyankwanzi District are investigating the killing of a boda boda rider whose body was found in a garden along the Kiryanongo–Ntunda feeder road, with his motorcycle missing after the attack, according to Nile Post. The victim was identified as Habomulemye John Paul, who worked in the Ntunda and Bananywa areas and rode a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration UMA 081LR.

Wamala Regional Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi said Habomulemye was last seen on the night of August 3, around 9 p.m., leaving Ntunda Town Council with an unidentified male passenger. Police said the case was reported the following morning after residents discovered the body in an open garden. Officers who visited the scene examined the remains, recorded statements from witnesses and began a manhunt for the suspect or suspects.

Preliminary findings suggest the rider suffered a serious head injury, and police believe he may have been struck with a blunt object. The missing motorcycle is also part of the investigation. Police urged boda boda riders to be cautious, especially when carrying unfamiliar passengers at night, and asked anyone with information to contact authorities.

More broadly, the case reflects ongoing concerns about the safety of commercial motorcyclists in Uganda, who are sometimes targeted for robbery and motorcycle theft, though that wider pattern is general background rather than a claim specific to this incident.
