Bobi Wine pays emotional tribute to late comedian Kapere

What the report says
National Unity Platform president Bobi Wine has paid tribute to Ugandan comedian and entertainer Kapere Lufotose, whose real name was Yokana Mbuuse, following his death on November 1, 2026, according to Sqoop Uganda. In a message shared after the news, Bobi Wine described the performer as a patriot, a devoted family man and a friend whose humour and kindness left a strong impression on people around him.
The tribute highlighted the different names by which the comedian was known, including his given name, stage name and the nickname "Taata Twamp" used by close friends. Bobi Wine said Kapere was not defined by his appearance, but by his character, sincerity and compassion. He also remembered him as a gifted artist who understood the influence of his voice and used his talent in what he saw as service to the country.
Bobi Wine’s message also extended condolences to Kapere’s wife, referred to as Maama Twamp, and their children, offering prayers for strength and comfort. He said the comedian’s contribution would not be forgotten and that his spirit would live on in the lives he touched. Sqoop Uganda reported that Kapere is expected to be laid to rest on Tuesday. More broadly, the piece reflects how entertainers in Uganda can become public figures whose deaths draw tributes from political and cultural leaders alike.
