Blogger Remanded to Luzira Over False Information

What the report says
A Kampala court has remanded blogger Aziz Tarik Nkata, 41, to Luzira Prison after he denied charges tied to alleged misuse of personal information and spreading false information. The case was heard at Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Rophine Achayo.
According to the report from Nile Post, Nkata, who lives in Makindye, was charged with obtaining and disseminating personal information without consent and with publishing false information. Prosecutors said the matter was linked to material shared on his TikTok account, Mr Accountability, in July. The charge sheet alleges that he made claims about Nathan Bwogi, described in the story as a State House employee, including an accusation that Bwogi used a firearm during a forced eviction from land. Nkata denied both counts.
The prosecution told court that its investigations were already complete. Nkata’s request for bail did not proceed because his lawyer reportedly did not present the required authorization documents. The magistrate then remanded him until October 19, when he is expected back in court.
Bwogi, who reported the complaint to police, said he had initially been prepared to forgive Nkata but followed legal advice to continue. The report also quoted the bloggers’ association president, Edson Kirabira, urging content creators to avoid defamation and to act responsibly when posting about other people.
