What the report says

IGN reports that Bethesda Game Studios has outlined a multi-year roadmap centered on its biggest franchises, with The Elder Scrolls VI as the studio’s main development focus. The company said most of its team is working on the long-awaited sequel, first announced in 2018, while Fallout 5 is in preproduction. Both games are being developed on Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform Bethesda says is intended to support multiple projects at once.

The update also confirms several Fallout initiatives. Bethesda said Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas, is collaborating on a new Fallout project. Bethesda also confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development, though it did not give release dates for any of the newly discussed games. Fallout 76 is set to receive a major expansion next year called Raven Rock, described as a prequel story to Fallout 3, and Bethesda is planning a live Fallout Day event in Washington, D.C., for the franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2027.

Bethesda’s note also said Starfield will continue receiving new stories, gameplay updates and additional “Starborn” content next year. The studio reported more than 17 million players for Starfield and said creators have earned over $10 million in royalties through its Creations program across supported games.

The roadmap comes as IGN notes Bethesda and Xbox are refocusing on core franchises after a major restructuring involving more than 3,000 layoffs and studio changes. The announcements matter because they clarify Bethesda’s priorities after years of fan speculation, but most projects remain without public launch windows.
