Beever-Jones ready to 'conquer' new season after injury troubles last term

BBC Sport reports that Chelsea and England forward Aggie Beever-Jones has signed a new four-year contract with Chelsea after what she described as the most difficult season of her career. The 23-year-old, who has been with Chelsea throughout her career aside from loan spells at Bristol City and Everton, faced a decision over her future as her deal ran down and other Women’s Super League clubs showed interest. She chose to stay, saying she spent the summer recovering and believes remaining at Chelsea was the right move.

According to the BBC, Beever-Jones’ 2025-26 campaign was disrupted by repeated ankle injuries, limiting her rhythm as Chelsea’s title defence faltered and Manchester City ended the club’s run of six straight WSL titles. She said the injuries affected her mentally as well as physically, leaving her feeling isolated at times when she could not play. She added that the experience has made her stronger and more focused on managing her body.

Beever-Jones is aiming to regain a consistent role for Chelsea and remain in England manager Sarina Wiegman’s plans ahead of next year’s Women’s World Cup. The BBC notes she has scored seven goals in 16 England appearances, but has often been behind other forwards in selection. Her return to form was underlined at the World Sevens in May, where she scored six times, including the winner in Chelsea’s final against Manchester United.

The report also places her decision in the context of a more competitive WSL, with Manchester City, Arsenal and other clubs strengthening. Beever-Jones said Chelsea still have a squad capable of competing domestically and in Europe, pointing to new arrivals including Katie McCabe, Melvine Malard and Manaka Matsukubo.
