'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer teases Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom - USA Today

What the report says
USA Today reported that Marvel Studios released the first full trailer for “Avengers: Doomsday” on July 20, offering the clearest preview yet of Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the franchise as Doctor Doom rather than Tony Stark/Iron Man. The footage shows Downey’s masked villain confronting Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and includes a voice that appears to be Doom’s, speaking in a noticeably different accent from Downey’s former Marvel character.
The trailer’s central thread, according to the report, follows Thor warning other heroes about Doom and urging unity. It also features Chris Evans back as Steve Rogers, who retired in “Avengers: Endgame,” and uses Mjölnir to confirm his identity. USA Today noted that the film appears to bring together three major groups: the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, with some scenes suggesting the heroes may initially clash before facing Doom.
Other characters glimpsed or listed include Loki, Scott and Cassie Lang, Shang-Chi, Gambit, Yelena Belova, Mystique, Shuri and members of the Fantastic Four. The cast named in the article includes Downey, Evans, Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Pedro Pascal and others.
The report adds that Doom remains masked in the trailer, leaving open whether Downey’s face will appear or whether the character has any connection to Tony Stark. “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Dec. 18, making it a major upcoming Marvel release built around returning MCU stars and legacy X-Men actors.
