AUTO Tourism Gala Set for November 27, Bringing Uganda’s Tourism Industry Together

What the report says
The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) says it will hold its 2026 Annual Tourism Gala on November 27, after moving the event from an earlier October 17 date. According to Watchdog Uganda, the gathering will bring together tourism players for an evening focused on recognising industry achievements, building partnerships and supporting sustainable tourism. The gala is set under the theme “Sustainable Tourism, Shared Responsibility.”
AUTO made the announcement at a press conference at Mestil Hotel & Residences in Kampala, where tourism institutions, private companies and development partners were represented. The association, which says it has more than 400 tour operator members, described the gala as a major industry occasion that highlights the businesses helping visitors access Uganda’s wildlife, cultural heritage and adventure attractions.
The report says this year’s event will also be used to discuss changing international market expectations and how Ugandan tourism businesses can remain competitive. AUTO Chief Executive Officer Matilda Iremera said the gala is meant to unite the sector and reinforce the partnerships needed for its future.
The Uganda Tourism Board is expected to support training sessions before the gala to help businesses understand sustainability standards and prepare for evolving demands from international partners. The broader message, as presented in the report, is that tourism growth increasingly depends on environmental responsibility, community engagement and cooperation among operators, government agencies and development partners.
