Arsenal supporters blend faith and community service at Adjumani Mass

Nile Post reports that hundreds of Arsenal Football Club supporters attended Sunday Mass at Adjumani Catholic Parish in Adjumani District, combining worship with a community donation to the church. The supporters animated the second Holy Mass on the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, taking part in singing, dancing and other liturgical roles during a service conducted mainly in English.

According to the report, the group donated food, household supplies and building materials valued at Shs2.2 million to support parish activities. Msgr. Felix Drani, the Episcopal Vicar for Refugees and Migrants in the Catholic Diocese of Arua and himself an Arsenal supporter, praised the fans for participating in the Mass and contributing to the parish. He encouraged supporters to connect their love of football with faith and constructive service, and also urged fairness and neutrality among football referees.

Adjumani Resident District Commissioner Swaib Toko also attended and used the gathering to address local public concerns. Nile Post says he cautioned residents about rising dog-bite cases, encouraged timely reporting to authorities, and spoke about the National Cleaning Exercise, HIV/AIDS awareness and the forthcoming Local Council I elections.

Robert Dragule, chairperson of the Central Organising Committee for the Arsenal supporters, said the gathering was meant to thank God and seek blessings while bringing fans together beyond football. He also announced a planned Adjumani Arsenal victory party for August 15, 2026. The event points to how organised sports fan groups in the area are being used as platforms for fellowship, charitable giving and local civic messaging.
