Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta signs new contract with Premier League champions

What the report says
Arsenal have extended manager Mikel Arteta’s contract until 2030, the London club said on Wednesday, according to Al Jazeera. The deal replaces an agreement that had been due to run out at the end of the current season. Arteta, who is 44, has led Arsenal since December 2019.
The new agreement comes after a strong period for the club. Al Jazeera reported that Arsenal won last season’s Premier League title, their first league championship since 2004, and also reached the Champions League final for the first time in two decades before losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties. The club is currently second in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester City after a 3-0 loss to Brighton before the international break.
In comments carried by Al Jazeera, Arteta described the extension as a privilege and said he hoped to continue working with the staff and players who have helped build a strong bond at the club. Arsenal co-chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke said they were pleased with the progress made since Arteta’s return in 2019 and said they expected more success ahead.
The extension gives Arsenal continuity at a time when they are trying to build on their recent domestic and European progress, with a home league match against Leeds next on their schedule.
