What the report says

MacRumors reported that Apple released the fourth developer betas of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 on Monday, July 20, 2026, about two weeks after the third beta builds. According to the report, registered developers can install the test software through the Settings app on an iPhone or iPad by opening General and then Software Update.

The update is part of Apple’s pre-release testing cycle for its next major iPhone and iPad operating systems. MacRumors said iOS 27 includes a more capable Siri experience called Siri AI, described as a chatbot-style assistant that can use general knowledge, information from apps such as Messages and Mail, and awareness of what is on screen to help answer questions and locate information.

The report also highlighted new Apple Intelligence features across apps including Photos, Safari, Shortcuts, Wallet and Passwords. Other changes cited by MacRumors include a standalone Siri app for conversations, a systemwide “Write with Siri” tool for drafting or reviewing text, and a Camera app relocation for Visual Intelligence with a new Siri mode. Apple has also adjusted the Liquid Glass interface and added a transparency control.

MacRumors said Apple is emphasizing performance improvements in iOS 27, including faster app launches, quicker AirDrop transfers, a more responsive keyboard and smoother switching between Wi-Fi and cellular connections. Beta releases are primarily intended to let developers test apps and identify bugs before wider public availability, so features and performance may change before the final release.
