MacRumors reports that Apple is testing a hidden Siri-related popover interface in the macOS 27 “Golden Gate” beta. The feature, found by a Reddit user in the r/MacOSBeta community, appears when a user highlights text, placing a small floating icon near the selection that expands into a compact menu when hovered over.

According to the report, the unfinished interface surfaces Apple’s Writing Tools and related contextual actions. The visible options include rewriting, proofreading, asking how text sounds, editing with Siri, generating key points and summarizing selected content. Depending on what is highlighted, the popover may also offer actions such as adding contact details, drafting a message or email, creating a calendar event, opening a location in Maps, or tracking flights and packages.

MacRumors says the feature is not enabled by default in macOS 27 developer beta 3 or public beta 1. Beta testers reportedly found that it can be activated through a private feature flag using Terminal, followed by a restart, but the article cautions that the interface is inconsistent and that some actions do not yet respond.

The discovery matters because it points to how Apple may be experimenting with making Siri and writing assistance more context-aware across macOS.
