According to the report, the Home Hub would run a new operating system based on tvOS, with an interface drawing from tvOS, watchOS and iOS. GSMArena says the device is expected to include a grid of icons, widgets and apps, along with customizable clock faces. Apple is reportedly planning both tabletop and wall-mounted versions, and expects some households to use multiple units in different rooms.

The reported features include built-in cameras, facial recognition to personalize information for the person speaking, FaceTime video calls, home security monitoring and an intercom function for homes with more than one device. The interface may also adjust the size of on-screen elements as a user moves closer to or farther from the unit.
