Anthony Smith released on $500K bond, faces 3 felony charges including terroristic threats and domestic violence - Yahoo Sports

What the report says
Yahoo Entertainment/Yahoo Sports reported that Anthony Smith, a former UFC light heavyweight title challenger and current UFC broadcast analyst, was arrested Monday night in Nebraska and booked into Sarpy County Jail. The outlet said TMZ first reported the arrest Tuesday. Smith, 38, faces three potential felony counts: terroristic threats, first-degree false imprisonment and domestic violence causing serious bodily injury.
According to Yahoo’s report, Smith was released Wednesday morning after posting a $500,000 bond. The reported bond conditions bar him from contacting his wife and prevent him from leaving Nebraska unless a judge grants permission. The article said the circumstances that led to the arrest were not yet clear at the time of publication.
Yahoo noted that, if Smith were convicted on the combined charges, the possible prison exposure would exceed 20 years. The charges are allegations at this stage, and the report did not describe a plea, court appearance or detailed police account.
Smith retired from UFC competition in 2025 after a long run with the promotion, including a 2019 title fight against Jon Jones. He compiled a 39-22 professional MMA record and also worked as a television analyst during the later part of his fighting career, continuing in that role after retirement. Yahoo also reported that Smith competed earlier this year in a bare-knuckle MMA bout for Gamebred FC’s heavyweight tournament.
