What the report says

Angola’s transport minister, Ricardo de Abreu, used the closing session of the Angola Hub Transport and Logistics Summit 2026 in Luanda to stress the role of private companies in funding and developing cross-border infrastructure. The remarks, reported by ANGOP and distributed by AllAfrica, came as the government signaled support for hosting a third Transport and Logistics summit in 2027.

De Abreu said the public sector alone does not have enough financial capacity or resources to meet infrastructure demand, and argued that Angola needs investors willing to back long-term projects. He described the private sector as an important partner in logistics and said the summit had produced more visible results than its first edition, including new operators, advancing projects, implemented concessions and investments already in motion.

He also pointed to several specific initiatives linked to the summit, including an agreement with the International Finance Corporation to support the Northern Corridor, a memorandum with Opaia Motors and the Sovereign Wealth Fund on electromobility, and a partnership with Hemera Capital Partners to create a data room for sector projects. In addition, he cited work with Huawei on a digital transformation white paper and a startup competition that drew more than 300 applications.

The minister said the Lobito Corridor is already showing activity and that Angola plans to strengthen both the Northern and Namibe corridors. More broadly, he framed these projects as part of a wider effort to improve regional connectivity and make transport infrastructure a driver of economic growth.
