MLB Trade Rumors reported that the Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers completed an intra-division deal Wednesday evening, with Texas acquiring reliever Chase Silseth and catcher Logan O’Hoppe for 19-year-old infield prospect Angel Arredondo. The Rangers made room on the 40-man roster by moving catcher Danny Jansen and rookie reliever Jose Corniell to the 60-day injured list. Los Angeles activated Travis d’Arnaud from the 60-day IL and is set to use him with Tyler Heineman behind the plate.

The deal gives the AL West-leading Rangers bullpen help without adding major payroll. MLBTR noted that Silseth, 26, has a 2.72 ERA in 47 outings this season, with a strong strikeout profile built around a mid-90s fastball and splitter, though walks remain an issue. He is under club control for more than four seasons and is on a pre-arbitration salary, an important factor for a Texas team described as having limited payroll flexibility while trying to protect a narrow division lead.

O’Hoppe, once viewed as a possible long-term catcher for the Angels, will reportedly be optioned to Triple-A Round Rock rather than join the Rangers immediately. Texas has been thin at catcher because of injuries, including Jansen’s forearm strain and Kyle Higashioka’s flexor issue. MLBTR reported that O’Hoppe has struggled offensively and defensively, hitting .209/.271/.295 with four home runs in 2026 after missing time with a wrist fracture.

For the Angels, the return is Arredondo, a Low-A third baseman hitting .243/.371/.392 with eight homers. Interim general manager John Mozeliak told MLB.com he views Arredondo as publicly underrated. MLBTR framed the move as Mozeliak’s first trade and a possible opening step in a deadline week in which Los Angeles may consider additional controllable-player deals.
