Ambassador Ssemuddu Participates in Major International Conference in Saudi Arabia

H.E. Amb. Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, Uganda’s ambassador to Sudan and special presidential envoy to Qatar, is taking part as a speaker at an international conference in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, according to Watchdog Uganda. The event, hosted at the King Salman International Convention Center, is scheduled for 27–28 September 2026 and focuses on Saudi Arabia’s efforts to confront intellectual deviations and promote moderation.

The conference brings together scholars, muftis, government officials, academics, researchers and institutional leaders from Saudi Arabia and other countries. Its agenda covers topics including extremism, the causes and consequences of intellectual deviation, the role of Islamic belief, mental health, and the contributions of security, education, media and civil-society institutions. Organizers also aim to encourage cooperation and exchange of experience among specialists.

Watchdog Uganda reported that Ssemuddu is due to speak on 28 September during a session on the role of Saudi university graduates in promoting moderation and temperance. His presentation is titled on the impact of Saudi universities’ alumni forums in building intellectual awareness. The report says he is listed among six international speakers in that session.
