What the report says

The National Resistance Movement says its National Treasurer, Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, has donated land for the construction of party offices in Busia district. According to Watchdog Uganda, she handed over a freehold title for 0.111 hectares to NRM Secretary General Rt Hon. Richard Todwong on behalf of the party secretariat.

The plot is in Busia Municipality, on Plot 31 along Hadongole Road. Nekesa said she bought the land in 2011 and left it unused for many years, adding that she believed it was intended to host the party in Busia. She said she was pleased to release it for that purpose.

Todwong praised Nekesa for what he described as loyalty and commitment to the movement, saying her gesture showed leadership to NRM members in Busia and beyond. The donation appears aimed at giving the ruling party a permanent local base in a district where it maintains an active political presence.

More broadly, party office construction and land donations are often used by political organizations to strengthen their local organization, visibility and administrative work. In this case, the key development is the transfer of land rather than the start of construction itself, which was not detailed in the available report.
