Amazon puts Luna cloud-streamed games like Fallout 4 inside Prime Video - The Verge

The Verge reports that Amazon has begun integrating its Luna cloud gaming service directly into Prime Video, adding a new “Games” tab on Fire TV devices. The change lets Prime Video users in the United States and United Kingdom launch cloud-streamed games from within the streaming app, with listed titles including Fallout 4, Hogwarts Legacy, Dispatch, EA Sports FC 26 and Clue.

According to the report, the move follows a broader reorganization in which Prime Gaming, Amazon Game Studios and Luna have been brought together under one gaming structure. The Verge frames the rollout as part of a strategy described earlier by Amazon gaming executive Jeff Gattis: focus less on competing head-to-head for dedicated players of major shooters and MMOs, and more on reaching the casual audience already using Prime Video for films, series and live sports.

Amazon said more information will come later on additional devices, countries and games. The new tab may also serve as a promotional surface for games connected to Amazon’s entertainment properties, such as Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite, as well as Courtroom Chaos: Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which The Verge says is tied to an upcoming Amazon holiday movie.

The development places Amazon closer to other streaming companies experimenting with games inside TV platforms, including Netflix. More broadly, it signals that Amazon is trying to make Luna more visible to Prime subscribers by embedding it in an app they may already use regularly, rather than asking users to seek out a separate gaming destination.
