All set for episcopal installation of new Kabale Diocese Bishop

What the report says
Preparations were complete in Kabale, western Uganda, for the episcopal ordination and installation of Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Bosco Katusiime Gubazire as the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese, according to The Independent Uganda. The ceremony was set for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at St. Ignatius University Kabale grounds along the Kabale-Kisoro Road in Mwanjari, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
The report said Gubazire, 52, was named bishop on July 15, 2026, and will replace Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, who has led the diocese for 23 years. The article also noted that workers had erected tents, arranged seating, and installed sound and lighting equipment ahead of the event. Large screens, floral decorations, and police deployment were also in place as part of event logistics and security.
Diocesan Vicar General Msgr. Dr. John Vianney Sunday said the diocese expected about 20,000 attendees, including clergy and lay faithful. He also said the diocese had received enough financial support for the installation, though he did not give a budget figure.
President Yoweri Museveni was expected to attend as chief guest. The installation marks a leadership transition for one of Uganda’s Catholic dioceses and is a significant event for the local church community and wider public in Kabale.
