Alexander brothers each sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking case

What the report says
Three brothers at the center of a high-profile New York sex trafficking case have each been sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to BBC World News. Tal Alexander, 40, and twins Oren and Alon Alexander, 39, were convicted in March of using their wealth and status to lure women to parties and luxury homes, where they sexually assaulted them. The BBC reported that the case involved abuse spanning years, with prosecutors and victims describing a pattern of drugging, rape and intimidation.
At Tuesday’s sentencing hearing in New York, 12 victims addressed the court, including some who had not testified at trial. Several described lasting psychological harm and asked the judge for the maximum penalty. Prosecutors argued the brothers had carefully used gifts, travel and social access to isolate victims, while defense lawyers asked for shorter sentences and maintained their clients’ innocence.
Judge Valerie Caproni said the brothers’ conduct was “monstrous,” and rejected their arguments that they had not admitted wrongdoing. She imposed 30-year terms on the main counts and also handed down 20-year sentences on additional counts, to be served at the same time. The BBC said the trial included testimony from 11 women, some of whom said they were minors when the alleged assaults occurred. The brothers worked in real estate in New York and Miami and had previously been linked to wealthy social circles and high-profile clients.
