Al-Hilal agree £60m deal for West Ham's Summerville

BBC Sport reports that Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have agreed a £68.3m transfer fee with West Ham United for winger Crysencio Summerville. The 24-year-old Netherlands international has been offered a long-term deal and has permission to complete a medical, with the move to the Riyadh-based side now expected to proceed.

According to the report, West Ham had earlier turned down a bid worth about £40m for Summerville, who had also been linked with Aston Villa. If completed, the sale would bring in a major fee for the London club after their relegation from the Premier League in May.

The BBC notes that West Ham have already raised significant funds this summer, including the £85m sale of midfielder Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham. At the same time, the club have moved to retain Jarrod Bowen, confirming an adjusted contract for the attacker as they prepare for life in the Championship.

The deal matters because it reflects West Ham’s need to reduce wages and generate income while trying to rebuild for an immediate promotion push in the 2026-27 season.
