Al Ahly fight back to beat Kitara in CAF Confederation Cup

What the report says
Al Ahly of Egypt earned a 2-1 away win over Uganda’s Kitara FC in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round tie, played at Hoima City Stadium on Saturday, according to The Observer. Kitara led in the first half after Gaddafi Wahab scored in the 30th minute, finishing a cross to beat goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy and give the home side a surprise advantage.
The Egyptian club responded after the break. Omar Al-Saai equalized in the 67th minute after breaking through Kitara’s defense, and Ahmed Sayed Zizo completed the comeback from the penalty spot in the 79th minute after Akram Tawfik was fouled in the area. The result gives Al Ahly a narrow lead heading into the return leg in Cairo on October 25.
The outcome leaves Kitara needing a strong performance in Egypt to stay alive in the race for the competition’s group stage. Kitara coach Wasswa Bbosa said the team would try to correct the mistakes from the first leg, while Al Ahly will aim to protect its advantage at home. Kitara reached this round after eliminating Somalia’s Mogadishu City FC on aggregate, which adds context to the club’s continued progress in continental competition.
