Air Serv Launches Scheduled Entebbe–Arua Flights to Boost Trade and Tourism

Air Serv has begun scheduled passenger flights between Entebbe International Airport and Arua, according to Nile Post, adding a new option in Uganda’s domestic aviation market and improving access to the West Nile sub-region. The service is positioned as a boost for trade, tourism and regional mobility, especially for travelers heading to a part of the country that borders South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

At the launch, Air Serv’s director of marketing and client care, Robinah Nalumu, said the airline plans four weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, using a 12-seater aircraft at the start. She said another aircraft is expected in September, when the company also hopes to extend scheduled operations to South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Company official Edgar Mwogere said the route should help move people and goods more efficiently and support investment in Arua, which is widely seen as a commercial hub for West Nile.

Local leaders welcomed the service and suggested it could increase competition and help reduce fares. Arua’s mayors also pointed to the city’s proximity to neighboring markets as part of its appeal. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority figures cited in the report show Arua Airfield already handles regular traffic, but relatively few airlines operate scheduled services on the route. More broadly, the launch reflects growing interest in domestic aviation links that can support business travel, tourism access and cross-border commerce in northern and western Uganda.
