What the report says

Agule Institute of Health Sciences and Management was the only institution from Pallisa District to take part in the Teso 2026 Run, an event organized by the Iteso Cultural Union Development Foundation (ICUDEF) in Soroti City ahead of the 4th Emorimor Coronation Anniversary. The run drew more than 2,000 athletes and sports enthusiasts and was presented as part of the wider build-up to the coronation celebrations planned for Kenya.

According to Dokolo Post, Hon. David Ochwa, the institute’s executive director and former Agule County MP, said the institution joined the event to support cultural mobilization, student exposure and health awareness activities linked to the run’s theme, “Run for Hope, Act for Life.” He said the institute brought 100 students with athletic talent to participate. The report also notes that the Uganda AIDS Commission was involved in the awareness campaign, while ICUDEF described the event as supporting children under the theme “Run for the Child.”

Officials and organizers used the occasion to promote both sporting participation and Iteso identity. Dr. Peter Emmanuel Eriaku of ICUDEF said the event helped advance preparations for the coronation of His Highness Papa Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, while local leader Hon. James Otim praised the event’s wider community value. The article also highlighted one concern raised by Agule Institute over awards being limited to first-place finishers, with ICUDEF saying the issue would be addressed.

The coronation anniversary is scheduled to take place at Amagoro Comprehensive School in Busia County, Kenya, with related activities expected to include the Emorimor Cup and an Ateker business symposium.
