What the report says

The Africa Golf Confederation has announced Tunisia as the host of the 2026 All Africa Team Championship, with competition set for the La Forêt Golf Course in La Soukra, near Tunis. The biennial event is scheduled for Oct. 14-17 and will be played as a 54-hole stroke-play team tournament. According to The Independent Uganda, the field includes a record 17 nations after late withdrawals by Tanzania and Sierra Leone.

South Africa will return as defending champions after winning the previous edition in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, in 2024. The report said South Africa captured its 12th continental title there and won by a wide margin. Other strong teams mentioned in the field include Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Morocco, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and host Tunisia, alongside several others from across the continent.

Uganda’s squad was listed as Godfrey Kambale, Amon Bwambale, Shaka Kariisa and Anthony Otukei, with Flavia Namakula named as coach. The article said the large turnout marks a milestone for African amateur golf and points to growing depth in the competition.

The tournament is being backed by the Tunisian Golf Federation and sponsor Vessel Golf. More broadly, the event offers one of the continent’s main team stages for amateur golf and will test whether South Africa can extend its long record of success against a broader and larger field.
