Afro Urban Brings Kigali and Kampala Together Through Music

Afro Urban is set to stage a cross-border music showcase in Kampala on Saturday, pairing Rwanda’s Mike Kayihura with Uganda’s Kohen Jaycee at MoTIV’s VibeHouse in Bugolobi. According to Nile Post, Kayihura will represent Rwanda’s contemporary sound while continuing to promote his project Intwaza. He is described as bringing soulful, emotive music shaped by Afro, R&B, soul and acoustic influences. Kohen Jaycee will share the stage with similarly genre-blending material that draws on personal experiences and everyday emotions.

The organisers say the performance is meant to do more than present two artists in one venue. It is intended to encourage exchange between Kampala and Kigali’s music communities and to expose audiences to artists working beyond their home markets.
