Adventist Church President Kajoba urges pastors to shun worldly pleasures

What the report says
Pastor Samuel Kajoba, the president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda, has urged newly ordained pastors to live in a way that matches the message they preach. Speaking at an ordination service at Luweero SDA Church in Luweero District, he warned that a focus on worldly pleasures could weaken the church’s mission and turn people away from Christianity. The event involved six pastors who were ordained for the North Buganda Field, which covers Luweero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts.
Kajoba told the clergy that they should be visible examples of transformation, stressing that ministry calls for sacrifice, perseverance and steady commitment even when faced with difficulties. One of the newly ordained pastors, Wasswa Muvunyi, said he would dedicate himself to spreading the gospel and serving the church.
The ceremony also touched on wider community issues. Kajoba encouraged Christians to support Bulungi Bwansi, the Buganda Kingdom’s community-cleaning initiative, and urged parents to prioritize education for their children. State minister Cissy Mulondo, who represented the government, said service delivery was being improved through roads, health and economic empowerment programs, and promoted the Parish Development Model as a way to help households enter the money economy.
The gathering also featured complaints about infrastructure, particularly the poor state of the Zirobwe-Kikyusa-Bamugolodde road. Former MP Noah Mutebi criticized the slow progress, while Mulondo said road projects had been affected by what she described as lost funds in recent years.
