What the report says

ACCA Uganda has opened nominations for the 10th Uganda CFO Awards, beginning a six-week entry period that started on Aug. 6 in Kampala. The annual programme, organised with Deloitte Uganda, is meant to recognise finance leaders from public, private, not-for-profit and SME sectors for work linked to business growth, governance, innovation and strategic leadership.

According to The Independent Uganda, the launch took place at Golden Tulip Canaan Hotel under the theme “A Decade of Excellence, A Legacy of Leadership Shaping the Future.” Organisers said this year’s awards will continue to spotlight the changing role of chief financial officers, who are increasingly seen as partners in strategy, digital change, sustainability and broader organisational leadership rather than only custodians of accounts.

The nomination period runs until Sept. 18, and winners are due to be announced at a gala dinner at Kampala Serena Hotel on Oct. 16. ACCA said candidates may be nominated by employers, boards, colleagues or business partners, or they may self-nominate with evidence of performance and impact. Shortlisted entrants will go through judging, interviews and verification before the final selection.

The article also noted that the awards have grown over the past decade into a major professional platform, with 50 finance professionals recognised through 76 awards so far. ACCA and speakers at the launch said the initiative has helped raise the profile of CFOs and encourage stronger leadership across Uganda’s finance sector.
