Aberdeen buy versatile Belgian forward Ntelo

Aberdeen have added Belgian forward Mitchy Ntelo from Swiss club Yverdon-Sport in an undisclosed transfer deal, according to BBC Sport Football. The 25-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with the Scottish Premiership side, which includes an option for an extra year.

Manager Stephen Robinson said Ntelo’s ability to play both through the middle and in wider attacking roles was a major factor in the move. BBC Sport reported that Aberdeen had followed the player for some time and see him as a way to add depth and flexibility to their attack.

Ntelo arrives with experience across several European leagues and is close to 150 senior club appearances. He has scored 30 goals in his career, including six in six starts during a loan spell at Bulgarian club Botev Vratsa last season. His previous clubs include Standard Liege, MVV Maastricht, Charleroi and Lokomotiv Plovdiv, and he joined Yverdon-Sport two years ago before that club’s relegation and his later loan move.

The signing matters for Aberdeen as they look to strengthen their squad with a player described by the manager as physically strong, quick and able to compete for roles across the front line. Ntelo said joining a club with Aberdeen’s support and history was a significant step for him.
