A lot to celebrate as World Vision Uganda marks 40 years, launches 2026–2030 strategy

World Vision Uganda marked 40 years of work in the country with a commemoration and the launch of its 2026–2030 strategic plan at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, according to The Independent Uganda. The event reflected on the organization’s origins in 1986 during the Luwero Triangle conflict and its long-running focus on children, families and communities affected by war, poverty and displacement.

The newspaper reported that Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, representing President Yoweri Museveni, praised World Vision’s partnership with government and its role in areas such as schools, health facilities, livelihoods, child protection and policy advocacy. World Vision Uganda said it now works in more than 50 districts through 52 Area Development Programmes, with activities spanning health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, economic empowerment, resilience and child protection.

Officials used the anniversary to highlight past work in Luwero, Northern Uganda, Karamoja, West Nile and South Western Uganda, while also setting a new goal under the latest strategy. The organization said it aims to contribute to the sustainable wellbeing of more than five million vulnerable children and their families between 2026 and 2030. The launch also brought together government, donors, faith leaders, civil society and community representatives, underscoring the role of partnerships in Uganda’s development efforts.
