The Verge reported that ASRock has listed a new AMD Radeon RX 9050 graphics card with 4GB of VRAM, making it the first modern GPU in years to ship with that limited amount of video memory. The product appeared as memory prices and broader component shortages continue to put upward pressure on consumer tech costs. The article, published July 28, 2026, says the 4GB model surfaced on ASRock’s website the same day the company launched an 8GB version of the RX 9050.

According to specifications cited by The Verge from ASRock’s site, the 4GB RX 9050 uses AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture and includes a 64-bit memory interface, 16 compute units, and a boost clock of up to 2,600MHz / 18GBps. The Verge noted that those specs should support newer features such as FSR 4, but the low VRAM capacity is well below what many current high-end games recommend, even for players targeting 1080p rather than higher resolutions.

ASRock had not announced standalone pricing for the 4GB card at the time of the report. The Verge cited Tom’s Hardware as spotting the GPU inside an $889 Best Buy prebuilt gaming PC that also included 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 500GB SSD, and an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU. The Verge said ASRock and AMD did not immediately provide on-the-record comment.

The development matters because graphics cards with 4GB of VRAM had largely disappeared from modern gaming hardware as game memory requirements rose. Its return may signal how manufacturers are adjusting entry-level PC products during a period of higher memory costs.
