49ers GM John Lynch On WR Brandon Aiyuk: "He's Not On Our Roster." - NFL Rumors - ProFootballRumors.com

What the report says
Pro Football Rumors reported that San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch declined to engage in detail on Brandon Aiyuk’s status as veterans arrived for training camp, saying the wide receiver remains on the reserve/left squad list and is not part of the team’s 90-man roster. Lynch said the organization would concentrate on players currently in camp while wishing Aiyuk and his family well.
According to the report, Aiyuk has been on the reserve/left squad designation since December. Pro Football Rumors said he did not file a grievance after San Francisco voided remaining contract guarantees, and he has not applied to the NFL for reinstatement. The article said that if reinstatement were granted, Aiyuk would then count against the roster and salary cap, which would require the 49ers to release him.
The situation is tied to Aiyuk’s stated interest in the Washington Commanders. In a July 27 update, Pro Football Rumors cited Nicki Jhabvala as saying Aiyuk texted that he still expects to land with Washington and described himself as a final piece for its offense. The report also noted Aiyuk has publicly discussed buying a $10 million home in Virginia near the Commanders’ facility, while cautioning that it is unclear whether Washington would pursue him if he becomes available.
Lynch also avoided a direct response when asked whether San Francisco’s Week 6 matchup with Washington affects the club’s handling of Aiyuk. For now, Pro Football Rumors characterized the matter as unresolved, with the 49ers moving ahead with a receiver group that includes Mike Evans, Christian Kirk and rookie De’Zhaun Stribling.
